Welcome to the newest FAU EAM member Dr. Carlos L. Bassani!

Carlos L. Bassani holds a dual PhD in Chemical Engineering from Mines Saint-Etienne, University of Lyon (France), and in Mechanical and Materials Engineering from the Federal University of Technology Paraná (Brazil). He has received several honors, including the Humboldt Research Fellowship, the CAPES Thesis Award from the Brazilian Foundation for Science, the Thesis Prize from the Brazilian Association of Mechanical Sciences (ABCM), and second place in the Thesis Prize of the French Society of Chemical Engineers (SFGP).

His research centers on modeling and simulating multiscale interactions in crystal formation from solution. Topics include the development of faceted and porous mesostructures from molecular ordering, liquid-bridge agglomeration in turbulent flows, and particle interactions and transportability within complex multiphase flow patterns. His work contributes to the green energy transition, with applications in reducing chemical use in hydrocarbon production and designing nanomaterials with enhanced catalytic properties.
