New QS subject ranking published

FAU has once again performed excellently in the QS World University Ranking by Subject 2021: Materials Science and Chemistry remain among the top 150, and Materials Science has even made it into the top 100. Several subjects are included among the best 100 in the categories based on citations and publications.

In the areas of medicine, engineering, and natural sciences, FAU was listed as one of the best 250 universities in the world in eight individual subjects. In the categories focusing on citations and publications, in other words how often researchers are cited or the number of publications they have to their name, FAU came out among the top 100 for the subjects Chemistry, Materials Science and Mathematics.

This success at an international level is also reflected in national rankings. In four subjects, FAU is ranked as one of the top ten locations within Germany: Materials Science (5th place), Chemical Engineering (7th place), Electrical Engineering (8th place) and Mechanical Engineering (8th place).

The QS World University Ranking by Subject is published by the education information service provider Quacquarelli Symonds, and has evaluated more than 5500 universities worldwide. QS includes categories such as academic reputation, citations per paper and employer reputation, which is judged by asking companies for their opinions of universities.
