ERC awards €1.5 million grant to FAU EAM member Dr. Carlos L. Bassani
Dr. Carlos L. Bassani has received an ERC Starting Grant for his project kineticSHAPES – Kinetic Pathways to Control Nanocrystal Shapes. The project will investigate how nanocrystal morphologies emerge under non-equilibrium conditions. By developing simulation methods that span from the atomic to the mesoscopic scale, the research aims to explain phenomena such as metastability, symmetry-breaking, and polydispersity, and to identify the conditions that govern synthesis outcomes. FAU EAM member Dr. Bassani, originally from Brazil, works at the Institute for Multiscale Simulation and has been an awardee of the FAU EAM Starting Grant in 2023/2024.
